Memorila for Kids

A free, ad-free flashcard app for parents who want their children to actually memorize words instead of finding ways to peek at the answers.

Why I Built It

The main goal was simple: make it impossible to cheat.

I originally built Memorila for Kids for my own daughter. She was learning French, and like many children, she quickly discovered that a learning app can sometimes be gamed. If there is a way to open a card, reveal the answer, or switch to an easier path, a child will probably find it.

So I removed every shortcut. No card editing. No answer reveal. No extra modes that could be used to avoid recall. She had to look at the word, think, and choose from memory.

Simpler Than Regular Memorila

Compared to the regular Memorila app, the Kids version has a much simpler interface:

• Only 4 answer choices instead of 6
• Only one learning mode: multiple choice, which keeps practice predictable and easy to use.
• No card editing, so kids cannot open a card just to reveal the correct answer.

• No AI explanations, keeping sessions simple and distraction-free.

Made for Parents

Memorila for Kids is aimed at parents who create flashcards for their children and want the practice to be honest. The parent prepares the words. The child reviews them in a locked-down learning flow. The app does not try to entertain the child away from the work; it makes the work small, clear, and repeatable.

The result surprised even me. With the escape routes removed, my daughter learned over 1,000 French words in just three months.
